David and Goliath

A giant named Goliath mocked God’s people, and every soldier was afraid. Young David, a shepherd boy, said God would help him. He refused the king’s armor, took five smooth stones and his sling, and faced the giant in the name of the LORD. With one stone, Goliath fell.

Key verse
And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give you into our hands.
1 Samuel 17:47 (KJV)

What it teaches

Courage comes from trusting God, not from being big.

Talk about it together

  1. Why didn’t David wear the king’s armor?
  2. What ‘giants’ feel big to you?
  3. How can God help you be brave?
